This Morning Routine Will Improve Your Mood
Begin the day with positive intentions.
The way you start the day can help you or hinder you. We often wake up with a habit statement like “I am so tired” or “Do I have to go in?”. Habits are like shortcuts — they are things we do quickly and without too much thought because we’ve done them so many times that they have become automatic.
Starting the morning with a neutral thought or a more positive one can set the tone for the day. On waking challenge yourself to see how the day plays out rather than deciding it is going to be a “bad” one.
It is well known that by waking each day at roughly the same time sets us up for a good routine. Even though the bed feels like Velcro pulling you back, lying in with negative thoughts can unravel a good night’s sleep.
By doing something productive soon after breakfast and getting up, you are setting the tone for achievement, allowing you to feel productive. It is likely to continue throughout the day. Procrastination, on the other hand, can make us feel stuck in a rut and the day can waste away. If you want to get some exercise, get into exercise clothing soon after waking, it will set the stage for success and you will be more likely to go once dressed.
Allow flexibility into the morning, be kind to yourself and not critical. A positive morning usually leads to a positive, productive day.
