How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day

We all thrive when we are balanced. The three main areas that you need in a day to feel balanced are:

Enjoyment and Pleasure

Closeness

Achievement makes us feel useful, productive and valued. Even a small task like emptying the dishwasher or a large task like doing your taxes or homework can help you feel like it was a good day. Putting things off add pressure and stress and can easily get on top of us.

Enjoyment and Pleasure are essential for us to feel happy in ourselves. Doing things that we like doing make the day worthwhile. If you are lacking in this area, try thinking of things you used to do and re-introduce the, Be curious about what is possible, that way you can try things without expectations or pressure.

Closeness is so important as we are social beings. We needs meaningful connections in our lives. That doesn’t mean we need to be surrounded by a crowd, or super popular, it is more about feeling connected, valued and seen by a few. Relationships shouldn’t be hard work but they do require work. So, if you have relationships that could do with a nudge, reach out with curiosity and trust that most of us enjoy hearing from friends and family.
